Azureus vs. µTorrent

I enjoy BitTorrent, in fact I enjoy it quite a bit. I have multiple operating systems at work, but I primarily run my BitTorrent client inside Windows. I also want a small memory footprint, and I really would prefer to not use Java. So, I made an initial decision to use µTorrent over Azureus. µTorrent is pretty nice and does most of what I want, but I ran into a really irritating issue with µTorrent.
I do not have any control over the network operations at my workplace, nor could I reasonable convince NetOps to open up a port for me. (Nor would I ask because that is just ridiculous.) So in trying to use µTorrent with trackerless transfer, DHT, peer exchange etc, µTorrent just doesn’t cut it. It just does not deal with DHT and peer exchange very well.
So I decided to switch back to Azureus. Now I would prefer not to have the huge memory footprint, but Azureus just gets the job done, regardless of the firewalls which are in my way.
So, if you use Windows, have total control over your network gear from edge to PC, then be my guest and use µTorrent. Else, use Azureus.
The µTorrent site says..
As of version 1.2, µTorrent supports DHT, and as of version 1.4.1 beta 407, supports Peer Exchange (only compatible with µTorrent peers at the moment).
Well that is nice, but it still sucks ass (even with using advanced options).
Want fast transfers using BitTorrent on a network which you do not control? Use Azureus. End of story.
